A car, a jacket, wool as the underlying theme. A fair, two successful ideas, one solution. With these “ingredients” in mind, we cross the gates of Florence’s Fortezza da Basso to visit Pitti Uomo and we find, in the Octagonal Room, the Parcour designed by Italdesign Giugiaro in the space devoted to The Car Jacket by Natural Born Elegance: jackets that draw inspiration from a supercar and a supercar with interiors as precious as the finest item of clothing.
Eight clothing items inspired by the best car prototype shown at the latest Geneva show, whose lines have been the source of inspiration for an exclusive collection by Julian Cerruti based on the use of Australian wool by Lanificio F.lli Cerruti.
And Lanificio F.lli Cerruti dal 1881 celebrated the partnership with Italdesign Giugiaro in its Pitti Uomo space: two among the greatest expressions of the “Made in Italy” which, on one side, enhance their qualities and, on the other, provide an insight into the diversification possibilities of the various products and destination of raw materials.
A car prototype certainly is an unusual sight at Pitti, and so, the Parcour, awarded as “Best Concept” at the Geneva show by American magazine Au-toWeek, is a rather unusual introduction to the jackets, made of the same material as the car’s interiors, that is, merino wool by Lanificio Cerruti, the so-called Turbo 180.
The same fabric has been used, in fact, on the Car Jacket, the jacket of the Natural Born Elegance line by Julian Cerruti, a limited series of 550 jackets, as many as the Lamborghini engine’s horsepower featured by the Parcour.
Of course, this comfortable jacket is ideal for driving the car and enjoying the ride. The Car Jacket is made with four different fabrics: in addition to the Turbo 180, there are the Via Col Vento, Prestige 150 and IParty versions: all fine menswear woolens whose special processing methods make the jacket acquire highly technical characteristics.
And since, when it comes to the pleasure of driving, there is no difference between men and women, the Natural Born Elegance collection includes the women’s version of the Car Jacket.
The marriage is “blessed” by The Woolmark Company, the project’s main partner and an “expert” in the field.
Julian Cerruti is very satisfied with the results and is a huge fan of the Parcour: “I love the idea behind a car like this- he said- it is a race car, but it is suitable for any road and route type. It is the hybrid concept, which applies perfectly to this clothing line and, in particular, to wool, an extraordinary material that, on these jackets, becomes “technical” due to the special finishing treatments it has undergone”. The collection will be distributed starting from January, but watch out: there are only 550 pieces available!

Un’auto, una giacca, la lana come filo conduttore. Una fiera, due idee vincenti, un’unica soluzione. Con questi ingredienti è quasi normale varcare i cancelli della Fortezza da Basso di Firenze per Pitti Uomo e trovare nella Sala Ottagonale una Parcour firmata Italdesign Giugiaro nello spazio dedicato a The Car Jacket di Natural Born Elegance: giacche che si ispirano ad una supercar e una supercar con gli interni pregiati come il miglior capo d’abbigliamento.
Otto capi ispirati al miglior prototipo di autovettura dell’ultimo Salone di Ginevra le cui linee sono state rivisitate da Julian Cerruti per una collezione esclusiva avente come filo conduttore i tessuti di lana australiana del Lanificio F.lli Cerruti.
Ed è proprio il Lanificio F.lli Cerruti dal 1881 che ha celebrato nel suo spazio la collaborazione con Italdesign Giugiaro: due massime espressioni del made in Italy che da un lato esaltano le proprie qualità e dall’altro lasciano intuire quali siano gli spiragli di diversificazione dei vari prodotti e delle destinazioni delle materie prime.
Trovare un prototipo d’auto a Pitti è certamente inusuale e quindi la Parcour, premiata come “Best Concept” al Salone di Ginevra dalla rivista americana Au-toWeek ha fatto da insolito traino alle giacche, collegate agli interni dell’auto dallo stesso materiale, un tessuto in lana merino del Lanificio Cerruti, il Turbo 180.
Lo stesso tessuto è infatti utilizzato per la “Car Jacket”, la giacca della linea Natural Born Elegance di Julian Cerruti che fa parte di una serie limitata di 550 esemplari, tanti quanti sono i cavalli erogati dal motore Lamborghini V10 montato sulla Parcour.
Ovviamente la comodità della giacca porta anche una praticità ideale per godersi la guida dell’auto.
La “Car Jacket” è realizzata in quattro tessuti differenti: oltre al Turbo 180, ci sono anche le versioni Via Col Vento, Prestige 150 e IParty: tutte lane fini tipiche dell’abbigliamento maschile lavorate in modo tale da creare un capo dalle elevate qualità tecniche.
E siccome il piacere della guida non ha differenze di sesso nella collezione Natural Born Elegance c’è anche una versione femminile della Car Jacket.
A fare da garante all’unione c’è anche The Woolmark Company, main partner del progetto e “esperto” in materia.
Molto soddisfatto di questa esperienza Julian Cerruti, che è rimasto affascinato dalla Parcour.
“E’ fantastica l’idea di creare un’auto di questo genere – ha commentato – è una race car, ma al tempo stesso è in grado di accedere ad ogni tipo di percorso. Un concetto ‘ibrido’ che esiste anche nei capi di abbigliamento di questa linea, ma che soprattutto esiste nella lana, un materiale eccezionale che in questi bluson diventa ‘tecnico’ per i trattamenti e i finissaggi ricevuti”. La collezione sarà distribuita da gennaio, ma occhio: sono solo 550 capi!
